As part of the Youth Volunteer Summer Program at Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens, Angela volunteered for 36 hours. Her volunteer work included weeding, harvesting vegetables, watering/fertilizing, and mulching at the Community Kitchen Garden and Children's Garden. The Community Kitchen Garden donates all of its produce to the Virginia Food Bank so the work has an added importance in serving the community. Angela wrote that by "learning how some aspects of the garden functioned," she was able to witness first-hand the "amount of work that goes on behind the scenes" and that is important with "any sort of establishment to correctly value it." The site coordinator commented that "Angela is a very hard worker in a job that is very labor-intensive" and that they were "very impressed with her work." Congrats!
